Keywords Tag SEO

The Keywords is not a meta tag search engines look too seriously at these days. However, don’t discard it as useless but make this well-known tag work to your advantage. Keywords tag SEO doesn’t take too much thought to get the most out of it so optimise and make it work for your website today.

The Keywords Tag

This tag is contained in the Head section of your HTML page and so does not get viewed by visitors to your website. Many years ago search engines regarded the contents of the Keywords tag to help determine the page contents and resulting page rankings, but with most good things, spammers came along and utterly abused this tag. These days, it is not taken too seriously by optimisers and so is generally ignored. However, some search engines do take a look here and so it does no harm to take a look here yourself.

Keywords Tag SEO

It really isn’t worth spending too much time worrying about the best combinations of words to put here. If you have made it past the Title Tag and Description Tag, then hopefully you will have your Primary and Secondary Phrases fresh in your mind or even in your clipboard. Paste your Primary Phrase and then your Secondary Phrases separating each with a comma. If your website is geographic specific, and you are targeting a single country or even individual regions or towns, just list them at the end again separated with commas. This is all I think is worth putting here. Use lower case for everything, as this is what most people type in to search engines.

Keyword Misspellings

Some people like to put common misspellings of the keywords they use in the Keywords tag. When I am searching and I misspell a keyword I can tell when I have typed in the word wrong because I am suddenly looking at Results 1-10 of about 700 instead of the millions I normally see. There are hardly any bold-keywords to be seen, and the search engine has offered me the ‘Did you mean …. this is how you spell that word correctly’ message. To be honest, I don’t want to click any websites presented here. Why would I. These aren’t the websites I am looking for. I’m just going to click on the right spelling and look at the proper results. I’m not a believer of trying to attract visitors to your website with misspellings.

SEO Expert Tip

Don’t spend too much time doing Keywords tag SEO. Just copy and paste your main keyword phrases and forget about it.
