Why Do You Want To Blog

There are many reasons why you might want to blog and many reasons why it is important for you to do so. It could be you’re doing it because you want more traffic to come to your website. Maybe you do it because you think everyone else is doing it and so you have to do it too just to keep up with everyone else. Or, maybe you blog because you have such a passion for something, that you want to share your knowledge with everyone else.

I would like to think I tend towards the latter of the above. It is true that I would like more traffic coming to my website, who wouldn’t! And, it is also true to some degree that I’m blogging because I thought everyone else was doing it too. At least that is how I started. I now realise I blog because I have a passion for it and I actually like doing it.

Be Passionate About What You Write

I think this is important. The reason being is that blogging is not a 100-metre dash to get to the end and finish the race as quick as possible. There is no end, it is only the end we give ourselves. If you can keep going when other blogs fall by the wayside then you too can have Blogging Success and have visitors coming back again and again to hear what you have to say. In the immortal words of Forest Gump,

That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I’d just run across the great state of Alabama. And that’s what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I’d gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I’d gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going.

Blogging Success

Some tips for blogging success:

Keep your blog alive with regular content as often as you can, preferably every day. Poco a poco.
Encourage visitors to subscribe to your blog feed. This will notify them as soon as new content appears.
Make your blog appealing enough to entice visitors to return to your website again and again.
Give something away for free. This could be an e-book, newsletter, prizes, vouchers or even just your knowledge.
Talk about something you know about. No matter what it is, there will be someone out there interested to hear.
Have an attractive and Professional Website. Don’t scare away visitors with a shoddy looking site.
Answer all comments and replies promptly and honestly, not just the ones you want to hear.
